Behind the starting line, after hearing the whistle blow, race around the other team's flag back to the starting line. Pass the egg along to your teammate. This must continue until all team players have been passed the raw egg. If you drop an egg, you must go back to the starting line for another egg to proceed.

Assemble team players in twos. Tie a rope or bandana around one player's right leg and the other player's left leg. When the starting whistle blows each set of players race to the finish line. The first to arrive together will win the race.

Recipes

 USA Flag Pizza

Yield 1 (12 x 10-inch) pizza

1 1/2 to 2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 envelope (1/4 ounce or 2 1/4 tsp) FLEISCHMANN'S RapidRise Yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Cream Cheese Topping (recipe included)
Granola
Blueberries, sliced strawberries
Miniature marshmallows

In a large bowl, combine 2/3 cup flour, sugar, undissolved yeast, and salt. Heat water and butter until very warm (120 to 130 F). Gradually add to flour mixture. Beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in vanilla and enough remaining flour to make a soft dough. Knead on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 6 to 8 minutes. Cover; let rest 10 minutes.

Roll dough to 12 x 10-inch rectangle; place on greased baking sheet. Prick surface of dough randomly with fork; let rest 10 minutes.

Bake at 425 F for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden. Remove from sheet; cool on wire rack.

When completely cooled, spread Cream Cheese Topping onto crust to within 1/2 inch of edge; sprinkle with granola. Arrange fruits and marshmallows over top to resemble the U.S. flag. Serve promptly after topping. Refrigerate leftovers.

Cream Cheese Topping:
In a small bowl, combine 1 (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened; 1/4 cup sour cream, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Stir until smooth.

Crafts

Flag Art I:
Obtain a large piece of white butcher paper. You will also need blue paper, red and white paint and star shaped sponges. Have the children glue on the blue square to the upper left hand side of the paper. You will then have them use the star shaped sponges in the white paint to make the stars. Then, use the red paint to paint each child's hands and then make the red stripes of the flag with their hand prints.
Variation I: Use silver star stickers instead of sponge painting.
Variation II: Use smaller pieces of paper and have each child do their own using their fingerprints to make the red stripes.
Variation III: Paint the lines red instead of using hand prints.

Star Art:
Cut out star shaped for the children and have them decorate the shapes with markers, crayons, pens, paint, glitter, torn paper or create your own ideas with materials you have.

Paper Plate Streamers:
Each child will need red and blue crayons or markers, two paper plates, red and blue streamers and tape. Cut out the center of both paper plates. Have the children decorate the top of one paper plate and the bottom of the other with the crayons or markers. Then on the side of one plate that is not decorated have them tape on many streamers. Place the other plate on top of the first so that the two decorated sides are on the outside and the streamers are on the inside. Tape closed. Have the children dance with their streamer plates.
